Pre-competitive and competitive diving

Pre-competitive Program

The entry-point into competitive diving is our pre-competitive program.

Divers train at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre and our dryland facility, located at 1565 North Routledge Road.

We host open tryouts in May/June, open to anyone, including those in our learn-to-dive program and others looking to join the team.

Depending on skill level, divers will train between four and six hours per week.

Divers are led by experienced coaches. The program focuses on technical instruction and individualized development with the goal to compete in probi

Competitive Program

Our divers compete at the provincial and national level.

Athletes train at the same facilities as the pre-competitive program. Our dryland facility allows them to refine their skills until they are comfortable performing them in the water.

Divers work on:

  • Body alignment and positioning on the board;

  • The approach and hurdle, including fluidity and rhythm;

  • Power, direction, flight;

  • Strength, rotation and precision.

National-level divers are coached by former Olympian Jorge Pupo Carballo.

Some of our divers have gone on to compete for Team Canada at international youth and senior events, and others have received NCAA scholarships.

  • Top quality coaches. Great experience so far!"

A team sport

Divers are alone on the diving board when they compete, but the Forest City Diving Club is a team and athletes support one another during practice and during competitions.

Team spirit

The Forest City Diving Club has elite athletes of all ages. They encourage each other to do their personal best in the pool and on the deck.
