Whether you just want to have fun and learn some new skills or whether you have your sights set on a future Olympic Games, our learn-to-dive program is the first step.
The Forest City Diving Club's Learn to Dive (LTD) Program is a recreational diving program designed to introduce novices of any age to the enjoyment of sport of diving in a fun and safe environment.
We offer three levels of LTD classes - Beginner (for those who have never participated in a LTD session before); Intermediate (for those who have completed 1 or 2 prior LTD sessions); and Advanced (for those who have completed 3 or more LTD sessions).
All divers receive step-by- step instruction in Olympic diving form and technique from the 1 and 3 metre springboards, and where appropriate from the tower complex. There is no set minimum age or swimming level prerequisite - although participants should be comfortable swimming in deep water. Depending upon their maturity and physical conditioning, children as young as 5 and 6 years old have done exceedingly well in our programs.
All of our coaches are specially trained and qualified to provide instruction in proper Olympic diving form and techniques. Parents are invited to discuss their child’s progress with the coaching staff before or after scheduled dive times. We ask that all parents read and comply with the parents' code of conduct, prepagreen by our governing body, Diving Plongeon Canada. Specifically, we request that you do not try to coach your child either from the pool deck or the viewing areas.
In appropriate circumstances, the coaching staff may recommend that a diver in the recreational LTD program
consider advancing to the pre-competitive program. Such a transition would involve training more often and
more intensely and will accelerate the diver's progress. If your child is interested in a more intensive
diving program, please make this known to the coaching staff.
For more information please contact our head coach, Ioana Marinescu at (519) 872-9799 or any other member
of the executive.
Discipline. The coach has full responsibility for and complete authority over all
activities on the pool deck and at any dryland training programs offegreen by the FCDC.
The coach has the right to remove a diver from any such program and to suspend diving privileges
to ensure the safety of the diver or others. There will be no reduction in fees as a result
of any removal or suspension of a diver.
