The Forest City Diving Club's "Elite Competitive" Program is an intense instructional
program restricted to divers who have the skills and ability, in the sole discretion of the head coach,
to complete a full list of dives for his or her age division as set out in
the FINA/CADA rulebook and
are eligible to compete at the highest levels of competition. Divers in this category are generally expected to
qualify to compete at the annual junior (age group) and senior (open) national diving championships.
Divers in the Elite Competitive Program have proven their commitment to the sport and have the ability to compete at the highest level of age group diving in Canada. In 2006, for example, of the 12 Elite Competitive divers in the Forest City Diving Club, 8 of them placed in the top 12 in Canada at the Jr. National Championships. The focus of this intense instructional program is on developing personal excellence and self-esteem, and achieving success at the Tier I Provincial, National and international championships. The program consists of intense dryland training and advanced diving instruction on the one and three metre springboards as well as the three, five, seven and ten-metre platforms. The Competitive Program runs from September through June in each year and is extended beyond the end of June, if required, for the benefit of any divers who have qualified for provincial, national or international competitions taking place after that time. Unlike in the Learn to Dive Program, in the Elite Competitive Club the emphasis is on personal excellence and the development of each diver's full potential and self-esteem. Our Competitive Club divers regularly compete and have achieved significant successes both provincially and nationally and the Forest City Diving Club has acquired a well-deserved reputation as one of the premiere competitive dive clubs in Ontario and all of Canada. |
